3 hacks for using baking soda as shampoo

Baking soda has a wide range of uses, and its popularity grows as scientists come up with new findings regarding its healing power.

But, did you know that you can use baking soda to improve your hair quality? Yes, it really works! Baking soda will clean your hair from any shampoo or conditioner remains, and your hair will have a healthy shine after just a couple of treatments.

Use some baking soda instead of your regular shampoo, and your hair will be more than grateful. This should not come as a surprise if you take into consideration all the benefits baking soda provides.

If you want your skin and hair care products completely natural, and you are a complete DIY person when it comes to your beauty routines, then you are probably always on a mission to find a safe product that will not harm your health or expose you to potentially harmful chemicals. We suggest that you try this treatment and enjoy the results.

You probably wonder what could be so bad about your regular shampoo. Guess what? It is the abundance of chemicals and harmful ingredients it contains.

We have listed some of the most dangerous chemical-offenders:

  • sodium
  • Sodium Lauryl
  • Laureth Sulfate
  • DEA/Diethanolamine
  • Parabens
  • Fragrance

When buying a shampoo, or any other cosmetic product, you probably go for the one that smells nice, and the word ‘fragrance’ might not sound bad to you, but actually if you see it on a label, that means that you are about to buy a product that contains over 4,000 separate chemicals. That is scary, right?

If you use clarifying shampoo, then you have probably noticed that it dries your hair, and when you add an intensive-care conditioner, the problem with your lifeless hair gets even worse. In addition to this, cold weather really affects your hair quality.

So, what, you hair is dull and dry, and you keep convincing yourself that you should cut it off? No, that is not a solution. Try our baking soda and vinegar hair care method, and it will keep your hairdresser’s scissors away from your hair for a long time.

Your hair will have more body, volume, and strength, but that is not all. You will also stop spending a real treasure on chemical-loaded cosmetics.

Feeling Better?
Shampoos dry out your scalp, and the lack of natural oils only stimulates the oil production. If you stop using your shampoo you might face the fact that you hair gets greasier than normal for the first few weeks, or just until your scalp adjusts.

If you start using this method, your hair will not get as oily as it does usually. All you should do is repeat the method every 2-3 days. Baking soda and vinegar treatment is super-cheap, effective, simple and chemical-free, and we bet that you will love it as much as we do.

Start like this:
Method
You may find it hard to wash your hair without all the shampoo foam at first, but be patient and wait for the final results.

Baking Soda
First, mix 1 part of baking soda and 3 parts of water. For shoulder length hair, for example, mix 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 3 times that amount of water. Y

You should better mix the ingredients in a small squeeze bottle. You can adjust the dosing depending on your hair length.

Apply the home made ‘shampoo’ to a dry or wet hair. Start at the roots and work to the ends. Leave the mixture for 1 – 3 minutes and rinse well. Warm water works better, as it will remove any remains.

After you have washed and rinsed the baking soda mixture, it is time to apply a vinegar rinse.

Vinegar Rinse
Combine 1 part of apple cider vinegar and 4 parts of water. If you do not like the vinegar smell, you can also add a few drops of lavender, peppermint, and/or rosemary essential oil to the vinegar mixture. It is more handy if you could mix a big batch of this rinse ahead of time and keep the squeeze bottle in your bathroom.

How To Apply It?
Tilt the head back and close your eyes. In that way you will avoid the possibility of getting some of the vinegar mixture into your eyes. Distribute the rinse through your hair.

If you have a longer hair, tilt your head forward (keep your eyes still closed), and distribute some more of the rinse on the ends.

Wait for a few seconds, then rinse with cold water. The cold water will seal the moisture in, smooth the hair, and add a healthy shine. If you have problems with frizz and static, this method will sure help you.

Share this method with your closest friends and family, so you can all enjoy your healthy hair shine!
